Bulbous and deviated nose correction with thread removal — revision rhinoplasty before and after (right after surgery)
These KOWON Plastic Surgery revision-rhinoplasty before-and-after photos, taken right after surgery, show the actual direction and structure of the change.
Hello, this is Dr. Kim Hyung-taek of KOWON Plastic Surgery.
This patient had a spread, bulbous nose along with a bridge that looked bent to one side, so the nose was asymmetric overall and the tip looked wide and blunt. In a case like this, just refining the tip or raising the bridge is not enough; it is important to straighten the centre of the nose while balancing the tip and bridge together.
For a spread, bulbous tip, the tip soft tissue is removed, tip-cartilage suturing is performed and a firm cartilage strut is placed in the tip. In this way the volume of the wide, blunt tip was reduced, while the centre of the bent bridge was straightened to balance the whole.
I finely adjusted the tip’s volume and left–right balance and aligned the bridge line with the midline of the face, designing it so that a stable line forms from both the front and the side. I also considered the flow of the columella, nasolabial angle and philtrum line so that the nose sits naturally at the centre.
This patient had previously had thread rhinoplasty, so the remaining threads were carefully removed (thread removal) and revision rhinoplasty was carried out at the same time.
Right after surgery is the stage before the swelling has fully formed, so it is a point at which the bridge and tip lines and the overall structure created by the rhinoplasty can be seen relatively clearly.
KOWON Plastic Surgery starts from natural-looking change, but aims beyond a result that simply doesn’t show — for a “natural-glam” rhinoplasty that brings out the flow of the line and its details.
As recovery goes on and the swelling subsides and the tissues settle, the nose takes on a softer, more natural shape. Rhinoplasty results can differ with each person’s skin and structure, and the more settled final result can be seen after a sufficient recovery period.
