STEP 01
Bridge
The projecting bone and cartilage are smoothed and the bridge line tidied
TYPE 02 — Hump nose
How is a hump nose operated on?
Smoothing the projecting part and carrying the bridge line through it. Osteotomy is needed less often than people expect.

What the operation actually addresses, step by step.
kowon plastic surgery
A bridge with a bump in the middle when seen from the side
A nose whose tip looks droopy because of the bump
A nose people say gives a severe impression in profile
In Dr. Kim's words
What I have felt over years of practice is that patients with a hump nose often read as severe or downcast in profile, and many carry a real complex about it.
Many also worry because they assume bone has to be touched — an osteotomy and so on.
In fact an osteotomy is rarely needed for a hump. Most of the time the high point is smoothed gently and everything else is adjusted to that new height.
Because the bridge is already reasonably high, a good deal can be improved without an artificial implant. It is one of the most satisfying operations in all of nose surgery.

PROCESS
STEP 01
The projecting bone and cartilage are smoothed and the bridge line tidied
STEP 02
Reinforced if needed — RIBFIT™ or silicone, explained beforehand
STEP 03
Tip cartilage grafting alongside, where the tip droops
STEP 04
Decided only where the bridge looks wide
How it goes varies a little with the extent of surgery and what was done alongside. Below is the usual course.
